Installation Issues

   Having trouble installing the Version 3.0 software on your computer? For quick 24 hour support we recommend you check out our FAQ site which includes links to the most common installation issues in IMPLAN and their most common solutions. Go to [FAQ]. Prefer to talk to someone about the problem, or perhaps you don't see your error message in the FAQ quick reference? Training

 

 The toughest part of learning to properly use IMPLAN may not be entering your information in, but knowing what data to enter and what your results mean in real world terms. This is why we offer a variety of training options including an introductory DVD and several different in-person and web training workshop options.

 

The IMPLAN DVD and Manual

 The introductory DVD and companion manual Principles of Impact Analysis and IMPLAN Applications are designed to introduce new users to IMPLAN system and to prepare them to do a variety of different analyses. The information covered in this video and companion text begin by teaching a background understanding of economic principles and seperating economic from social and political impacts. The information then progresses to defining IMPLAN terms as they are used in the software and showing methodolgies for developing studies using the following economic factors: totals sales values, employment as a proxy for sales, Deflators, Margins, Local Purchasing Percentages, and customizing Events when more than one impact factor is known. This introduction also includes a brief look at how to use Activity and Scenario Level in IMPLAN, considerations of impact loss statements, and Commodity, Labor Income and Household Income Change Activity types, as well as, modeling with spending patterns.

In-person or Online Introductory Training

MIG offers combination on-line and in person interactive introductory training courses from our training location in Hudson, WI. This two and a half day course looks at several primary analysis topics including proper understanding of breaking down impact problems into economic elements, comparative study areas, usage of margins, applying deflators, differences between Local Purchasing Percentage and Regional Purchasing Coefficients, net analyses, and understanding, interpreting and reporting results and assumptions.

Both online and in-class students will be involved in class participation work which will involve group activities and interaction. The workshop comes the Introductory DVD for user's who do not already have it (the PIAIA manual is not included) and with a companion workbook with additional material including impact worksheets to help you ensure that your future analyses are properly framed and reported.
